Supplier Recalls Strawberries Linked to Hep A Outbreak

The FDA reported five outbreak-associated cases and two hospitalizations.

Scenic Fruit Company announced a voluntary recall of frozen organic strawberries and a fruit blend. 

The recall follows the FDA’s announcement of a Hepatitis A outbreak linked to frozen organic strawberries imported from farms in Baja California.

The affected products were sold to Costco, Aldi, KeHE, Vital Choice Seafood, PCC Community Markets and Trader Joe’s. 

The FDA reported five outbreak-associated cases and two hospitalizations. 

All interviewed victims reported eating frozen organic strawberries.

Scenic Fruit Company said Hepatitis A was not detected in its product but encouraged consumers to stop consumption.

The company added that it discontinued production and distribution of the product while the FDA investigates.
