New Strike Force to Protect Critical U.S. Tech

The justice and commerce departments announced the Disruptive Technology Strike Force launch.

Its purpose is to target illicit actors, strengthen supply chains and protect critical technological assets.

A focus will be on investigating and prosecuting violations of export laws. 

The strike force will operate in 12 U.S. metropolitan regions and consist of experts throughout the government. 

The DOJ warned that nation-state adversaries could use advanced technologies to enhance military capabilities. 

Dangers involve improved calculations in weapon design and breaking encryption algorithms. 

Examples of advanced technologies concerning end users seek include supercomputing, AI and advanced manufacturing equipment and materials.
