Jay-Z Funds Former SpaceX Engineers’ Pizza Startup

The operation is described as "a spaceship on wheels."

Rapper, producer and entrepreneur Jay-Z led a fundraising round for a startup founded by former SpaceX engineers.

The round raised $16.5 million for Stellar Pizza, which uses a mobile truck full of robots to make pizzas.

According to Stellar Pizza, the robots can make 420 custom 12-inch pizzas daily.

The robots are also capable of baking, adding toppings, slicing and boxing in less than five minutes.

CEO and co-founder Benson Tsai described the operation as “a spaceship on wheels.”

In addition to SpaceX, the startup’s founders have experience at Lucid, Ford and Qualcomm.

Stellar Pizza hopes to open its first truck at the University of Southern California this fall.

The fundraising round was led by Marcy Venture Partners, a venture capital firm co-founded by Jay-Z.
