Hyundai Transys, a global automotive supplier that specializes in powertrain and seating systems, announced a $560 million investment to expand its manufacturing capabilities in West Point, Georgia. The company expects the development to create 320 jobs.
The expansion will include facility upgrades to plants one and two, as well as the construction of a third plant. The project will also support added production capacity for electrified powertrains for hybrid vehicles.
Founded in 1994, the Korean company currently supports roughly 1,250 jobs at the West Point facility. New roles will include administrative, supervisory and production positions.
“We’re honored Hyundai Transys Georgia Powertrain chose West Point for this expansion and state-of-the-art hybrid transmission manufacturing facility,” West Point Mayor Steve Tramell said.
Director of Project Implementation and Supplier Strategy Alyce Thornhill represented the Georgia Department of Economic Development’s (GDEcD) Global Commerce team on this competitive project in partnership with the City of West Point, Georgia Quick Start and Georgia Power.
