The Hewitt Soap Factory in Dayton, Ohio, was badly damaged by fires in 2016 and 2017.
Neighbors have long complained about the lack of cleanup.
They allege debris is known to fall into the street and that its unseemly appearance encourages “other nuisance activities.”
One local business owner called it “the worst” eyesore in the city.
Now, the factory site is slated for cleanup after its owner, Robert Davis, was cited for “public nuisance.”
Before the case went to trial, he was granted a continuance to complete the cleanup.
Davis has reportedly hired contractors to demolish the buildings on the three-acre lot and engage in asbestos remediation.
The cleanup is expected to cost hundreds of thousands of dollars.
