The layoffs come as tech companies experience a pendulum swing that follows pandemic-driven demand for their products and services.

Amazon, Meta and Salesforce lead the list with 18,000, 11,000 and 8,000 layoffs, respectively, from November 2022 to January 2023.

Amazon’s job cuts mainly affected corporate positions.

Meta’s layoffs included Reality Labs, the division that features metaverse projects, and Salesforce’s targeted its MuleSoft and Slack units.

Other affected companies include Alphabet's healthcare unit Verily and supply chain software firm Flexport.
