Advanced battery technology firm Sila announced that it earned the ISO 9001:2015 certification for its Moses Lake, Washington, manufacturing facility. The achievement comes as the California-based company scales domestic production of its silicon-carbon anode technology (Si/C) to power critical applications across AI, autonomous vehicles, drones, satellites, robotics and other technologies.

The certification demonstrates Sila’s ability to operate a scalable quality management system (QMS) that supports consistent product quality, end-to-end material traceability, effective risk management and customer protection. These capabilities enable Sila to consistently deliver products that meet the rigorous requirements of customers, many of whom require an NDAA-compliant supply chain.

The development also establishes a foundation for Sila’s next phase of quality management as the company works toward IATF 16949 certification at the Moses Lake facility, which will position it to meet the quality requirements of automotive customers.

“We’re demonstrating that advanced battery materials can be manufactured here in America at scale, with the quality systems required to serve the world’s leading OEMs and technology partners,” Sila COO Chris Dougher said.

The Moses Lake facility is operational, with highly automated production systems designed to minimize operator variability and deliver consistent material outcomes. Sila’s manufacturing execution system (MES) manages recipe control, raw material requirements and reactor readiness, while system redundancy helps ensure consistency across production. The facility’s QMS also allows the company to track materials from raw material intake to processing, analytics and final product.

Sila earned ISO 9001:2015 certification for its Alameda, California, facility in 2022, where more than seven years of 24/7 operations have delivered quality yields above 95% for Titan Silicon production.

Additionally, Sila recently received a conditional loan commitment of up to $1.4 billion from the Pentagon through its Office of Strategic Capital (OSC). The financing will support the expansion of the company's manufacturing capacity at Moses Lake.
