Tire Manufacturer Building World’s Largest Rooftop Solar Panel

It will cover 100,000 square meters.

Falken Tires began work on the world’s largest rooftop solar panel installation for a single facility.

The installation at a Sumitomo Rubber Industries (SRI) factory in Thailand will cover 100,000 square meters.

The project includes 40,000 solar panels, expected to generate 22 megawatts.

The installation is scheduled to be finished in 2025.

Falken said solar power from the panels would support the manufacturing of tires for the European market.

SRI will also build a gas cogeneration system with two 6.6-megawatt boilers.

Falken expects the developments to reduce total annual CO2 emissions by about 42,000 tons.
