Canadian sales of agricultural tractors dipped 15.1% in September 2026 compared to the year before, while sales of combines dropped 37.6%.
“September’s sales underscore the difficulty in the agriculture market today,” AEM Senior Vice President Curt Blades said. “We approach this harvest season with optimism for increased certainty and recovery of farm economy.”
The data comes a few months after John Deere attempted to extend the current labor agreement with UAW-represented workers, citing weaker equipment demand as a motivator. The workers rejected the proposal, which could set up a potential contract showdown when the current deal expires in fall 2027.
The Ag Tractor and Combine reports are released every month and can be found on the AEM Market Share Statistics page. The U.S. report can be downloaded from this page, while the Canadian report is available for download here.
