Satellite subsystem manufacturer Aerospacelab announced the opening of a new manufacturing facility in Torrance, California, this week. The state-of-the-art facility will allow the company to increase production of satellite technology and meet growing demand.

The factory has 35,000 square feet of advanced high-bay and cleanroom environments and can, on average, produce two satellites per week on a single shift schedule. Aerospacelab will begin assembly, integration, and testing of its satellite system solution for Xona Space Systems in Q4.

Founded in 2018, Aerospacelab builds satellite subsystems and platforms, provides end-to-end solutions, and integrates and tests diverse mission payloads. The expansion is designed to scale and support a range of space manufacturing needs within the U.S.

The company achieved TRL-9 maturity through consecutive launches on SpaceX Rideshare Transporter 8, 9, and 10 missions. It has successfully deployed eight satellites in orbit.

Aerospacelab is expanding its operational footprint due to rapid growth fueled by newly announced commercial customers in the U.S., and it is supporting the requirements across various U.S. government institutions.

The company recently landed a subcontract with MDA Space for the Telesat Lightspeed constellation.

Aerospacelab recently broke ground on its Megafactory in Belgium. It will be the world's third-largest satellite manufacturing facility when it opens. Operations are scheduled to begin in 2026.
