Scientist From ‘50s Predicted An 'Elon' Would Lead Humans to Mars

All signs point to the prophesy to be true, depending how deeply you look at it.

Is it possible Elon Musk, CEO and founder of SpaceX, was destined to lead the human race to Mars? While it may not have been written in the stars, it was written on paper. Sort of.

In 1953, a book was published that mentioned an "Elon" taking humans to Mars. The author was a German American astronautical engineer named Wernher Von Braun and the book is titled, "Mars Project: A Technical Tale.”

Musk believes colonizing space can save humanity and said in an April tweet, "If we make life multiplanetary, there may come a day when some plants & animals die out on Earth, but are still alive on Mars.”

In October, Musk said, that in the year 2024, humans would set foot on Mars, according to Business Insider.

All signs point to Mr. Von Braun’s prophecy to be true. Depending on how deeply you look at the actual text.

First of all, Von Braun’s work of nonfiction is not a standard essay. Its narrative explains to readers how a trip to Mars might look in the Cold War.

Secondly, Von Braun doesn't say that a person named Elon would lead humans to Mars, but rather, the leader's position would be called "Elon."

The English translation of the paragraph in the book says, "The Martian government was directed by ten men, the leader of whom was elected by universal suffrage for five years and entitled 'Elon.' Two houses of Parliament enacted the laws to be administered by the Elon and his cabinet."

Fittingly, in a temporary Twitter-profile update, Musk proclaimed himself imperator of Mars.
