Tesla Hiring Bucks Industry Trends

By the end of 2020, the company will have created 17,000 new jobs.

According to GlobalData’s Jobs Analytics database, hiring in the global automotive industry has remained flat this year.

However, according to the research firm’s latest report, Tesla has continued to hire at a higher rate than average despite the ongoing pandemic.

At the end of last year, the electric car maker employed just over 48,000 people globally. 

GlobalData says the company is planning to increase its headcount to around 65,000 by the end of 2020.

The hiring syncs with the opening of giga-factories in the U.S., China and Germany, and expansion in the energy generation and storage markets.

It also reflects is a key component of founder Elon Musk’s self-reliant production strategy.
