Toy Maker Settles Patent Suit With Hasbro

Lanard Toys disputed Hasbro's allegations that three of its toys infringed on Hasbro's patent but agreed to stop selling its toys in the U.S.

HONG KONG (AP) -- U.S. toy maker Hasbro Inc. has settled a patent lawsuit with a Hong Kong-based rival.

Lanard Toys Inc. said in a statement Wednesday that it settled the dispute involving two U.S. patents for Hasbro's Nerf N-Strike Disc Shot Blaster foam-dart shooting toy.

Lanard said it disputed Hasbro's allegations that three of its toys infringed on Hasbro's patent but agreed to stop selling its toys in the U.S. in order to resolve the suit. In return, Hasbro agreed to drop its claims.

The toys made by Lanard fire foam discs. A lawyer for Lanard said the dispute centered on the toy's firing mechanism.

Hasbro could not be reached for comment.
