Volkswagen Sales Rise In November

Automaker says global deliveries were up 16 percent in year-on-year terms and sales for this year's first 11 months exceeded those for the whole of 2009.

BERLIN (AP) -- Volkswagen AG says its global deliveries were up 16 percent in year-on-year terms last month -- and sales for this year's first 11 months exceeded those for the whole of 2009.

The company said Friday the Volkswagen group -- which includes brands such as Audi, Skoda and Seat -- saw deliveries rise to 617,100 in November from 531,200 a year earlier.

Volkswagen sold 6.59 million vehicles between January and November. That was 12.7 percent above its sales of 5.85 million in January-November 2009, and also above the 6.34 million it sold in the whole of last year.

VW board member Christian Klingler says Volkswagen "is benefiting disproportionately from the upturn on most major automobile markets."

He says VW expects a new full-year delivery record of more than 7 million vehicles.
