SHANGHAI (AP) -- Changan Ford Mazda Automobile Co. is recalling 236,643 Focus sedans due to an engine software problem that causes vehicles to stall.
The recall involves vehicles made from Aug. 18, 2008 to May 28, 2010, China's quality watchdog, the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine, said in a statement on its website Tuesday.
Changan Ford Mazda issued a statement saying the cars were begin recalled because of complaints they tend to stall when running at low speeds.
The company is giving affected customers free engine software upgrades, it said.
