Toyota To Recall Corollas Made In Brazil

The Brazilian Justice Ministry has announced that Toyota's subsidiary in Brazil has agreed to recall an unspecified number of Corollas due to the risk of sudden acceleration.

SAO PAULO (AP) -- Toyota's subsidiary in Brazil has agreed to recall an unspecified number of Corollas due to the risk of sudden acceleration, the Brazilian Justice Ministry has announced.

Toyota do Brasil Ltda. will recall all vehicles made in Brazil since April 2008 and will fix loose floor mats that could interfere with the gas pedal and cause sudden acceleration, the ministry said in a statement posted on its website late Friday.

The statement did not say how many vehicles the company plans to recall or how many Corollas have been sold since April 2008 in Brazil.

No one answered the telephone Saturday at the headquarters of Toyota do Brasil's headquarters in Sao Paulo.

Toyota Motor Corp. has recalled more than 8 million vehicles worldwide because of acceleration problems in multiple models and braking issues in the Prius hybrid.
