Embraer Reports Jet Deliveries Are Up In 3Q

Brazilian plane maker said its jet deliveries for the third quarter climbed 18.8 percent compared with the same period last year.

SAO JOSE DOS CAMPOS, Brazil (AP) -- Brazilian plane maker Embraer said Wednesday its jet deliveries for the third quarter climbed 18.8 percent compared with the same period last year.

The company said it delivered 57 jets during the three months ended Sept. 30, up from 48 jets during the third quarter of 2008. The deliveries included 29 planes to commercial aviation customers, 27 to executive buyers and one to a defense client.

Embraer said it has delivered a total of 153 jets so far in 2009.

The company said its order backlog was valued at $18.6 billion as of Sept. 30 -- a 6 percent decline from the $19.8 billion recorded on June 30.

Shares of Embraer slid 17 cents to $23.20 in morning trading.
