Chinese Automaker Coming To Detroit Auto Show

Brilliance Auto, BMW's Chinese partner, will make its first appearance at any North American auto show in Detroit in January.

DETROIT (AP) -- A second Chinese automaker will be displaying its products at the 2009 North American International Auto Show.

Organizers say Brilliance Auto, BMW's Chinese partner, will make its first appearance at any North American auto show when it comes to Detroit's Cobo Center. BYD, which made its Detroit debut in 2008, will be back for the upcoming show that runs from Jan. 11-25.

At the 2007 event, Changfeng Motor became the first Chinese automaker to exhibit in Detroit or any other North American auto show. Changfeng returned in 2008.

Brilliance builds the 3 Series and 5 Series for BMW to sell in China. It also builds and sells its own Zhonghua brand of vehicles.
