MONTREAL — Bombardier Aerospace has won the largest order ever for its Challenger 300 jet, with $450 million in firm orders and up to $1.9 billion in options, from California-based Xojet.
The rapidly expanding private aviation company has ordered 20 super-midsize Challenger 300s, with options for 60 more.
''This is a great day for Bombardier,'' Bombardier senior vice-president Jahid Fazal-Karim said in a statement.
''We know the Challenger 300 jet is at the top if its class. Following an extensive evaluation of aircraft in the same category, Xojet chose the Challenger 300 for its superior cabin comfort, reliability and performance.''
Deliveries are scheduled to begin in the fourth quarter of fiscal 2008.
Xojet provides private jet ownership, leasing and on-demand travel for frequent business jet flyers.
Bombardier shares were down three cents at $5.86 in morning trading on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
