STUTTGART, Germany — DaimlerChrysler AG is entering a partnership with Indian company Sutlej Motors, Ltd. (SML) to build bus bodies on Mercedes-Benz chassis manufactured by DaimlerChrysler India Pvt. Ltd. (DCIL).
The collaboration includes the development, production, marketing, sales and after sales of luxury rear engine coaches. The chassis will be manufactured by DCIL and the body will be built up by SML. DCIL will handle the sales and after sales.
The first vehicles are expected during the first quarter of 2008.
Both companies expect an improved road network and a need for efficient public transport systems to bolster demand for buses.
