LONDON – Rolls-Royce announced Monday that it received its largest-ever firm engine order for its civil aerospace business from Qatar Airways. The order is worth $5.6 billion.
Qatar will use Trent XWB engines to power its new fleet of 80 Airbus A350 XWB twinjets, with deliveries planned for 2013.
The Trent XWB meets or exceeds all current environmental legislation.
Rolls-Royce also received a $1.8 billion contract with U.S. Airways, $180 million contract with Hainan Airlines, a $180 million contract with International Lease Finance Corp and a $260 million contract with China Eastern Airlines.
