NEW YORK (AP) - Honeywell Technology said on Monday it was awarded a $7.7 million contract to supply several of its process control technologies to the world's largest paraxylene plant.
Honeywell, a division of diversified technology and manufacturing company Honeywell International Inc., was awarded the contract by Seoul, Korea-based GS Engineering and Construction.
The $1.2-billion Sohar Aromatics plant is located at Oman's Port of Sohar, and is expected to be completed by December 2008. Paraxylene is used in the manufacture of polyester fiber and plastic bottles.
Shares of Honeywell International rose 3 cents to $51.43 in midday trading on the New York Stock Exchange.
