LG Philips will move assembly plants to China “as soon as possible” in a continuing effort to cut costs, according to the company’s CEO.

LCD manufacturer LG Philips said it will move assembly plants to China “as soon as possible” to cut costs, according to published reports.

The company currently operates LCD module assembly plants in South Korea, Poland and China. The plants build completed LCD units from components from the company’s LCD fabs.

LG Philips is continuing its cost-cutting efforts, including the move to China in an effort to turn business around.
