Food Manufacturing's Recall Recap: Fasteners in Minute Maid and Metal in Brownies

Here's the food recall and health alerts issued from the FDA, USDA and CDC over this past week.

Thousands of Minute Maid Drinks Recalled for Fasteners

Coca-Cola has recalled three Minute Maid juice products that may contain metal bolts or washers. FDA data shows it covers nearly 7,500 cases of product and includes the brand's 59-oz.-size Berry Punch, Strawberry Lemonade and Fruit juices. They were distributed to CT, ME, MD, NJ, NY, NC, PA and VA. The recall began Nov. 10.


1,500 Trays of Mispacked Brownies

Dianne's Fine Desserts (Newburyport, MA) has recalled 1,480 trays of Sienna Chocolate Decadent Brownies due to a mis-pack, resulting in undeclared pecans. The product was distributed through Gordon Food Service to stores in WI, MI, FL, OH and PA.


Metal in Cream Puffs

Poppies International (Battleboro, NC) has recalled cream puff products produced Dec. 7-10, that may contain small metal fragments. The Delizza-branded products were distributed to stores in CA, CT, DE, MA, MD, NH, NJ, NY, PA and RI.


Health Alert for Chinese Meat and Poultry

The USDA has issued a public health alert for an undetermined amount of imported meat and poultry products from China. The total amount of ineligible product is undetermined because the investigation is ongoing. The products don’t identify an eligible establishment number on their packaging and were not presented to FSIS for import reinspection.


Half Ton of Smoked Fish

Haifa Smoked Fish (Jamaica, NY) has expanded its recall of Turbot Cold Smoked 8 oz packages for Listeria risk to include 920 lbs of Turbot from Lots 97, 223, 299, 321. They were distributed to retail stores in New York and New Jersey.
