Corvette Plant to Reopen Next Week

The facility has been the exclusive home of Corvette for more than 30 years.

On Friday, General Motors announced that it will begin to reopen its Kentucky Corvette plant on May 26.

The restart at Bowling Green Assembly will be gradual and worker safety a priority. The company created new safety protocols, and every worker will be retrained before they return to work. The plan is to start with one shift, and demand will dictate whether or not more shifts are added.

The plant has been idle since March 20.

As of February, the plant had 1,445 employees: 206 salaried, 1,239 hourly.

Bowling Green Assembly is the only plant in the world to build Corvettes. The facility has been the exclusive home of Corvette for more than 30 years.
