With promises to reduce costs, improve quality and transform the bottom line by eliminating wastes in manufacturing, the current economic climate makes lean thinking even more attractive to the Manufacturing Industry. As a result, manufacturers are increasingly looking at automating lean techniques to not only survive the current economic situation, but to capitalize on the opportunities that it presents. The first step to eliminating the 7 wastes in manufacturing is improved operational and business processes via RFID technology. Many manufacturers have started the journey with managing and operating lean practices in some areas, however, there is still plenty of opportunity as most manufactures still have manual, labor-intensive processes, hence accruing too much waste. Moving to automated lean processes, aimed at real-time visibility of materials, WIP, scrap, equipment and assets is the key to becoming leaner and eliminating excess waste.
This broadcast will identify the seven wastes in manufacturing and demonstrate how Real-time Asset Management Solutions can eradicate waste and dramatically improve your bottom line. Real-time asset management solutions are the most recent arrival in Lean Application Solutions, providing manufacturers the ability to continuously manage the physical location and status of their business critical assets, equipment and people. David Phillips from Zebra Enterprise Solutions and industry analyst Kimberly Knickle with Manufacturing Insights will examine the impact of leveraging proven lean principles based on RFID technology, supported by Real-time Asset Management Solutions.
