French manufacturer uses scheduling solution to bid "Au revoir" to engineering bottlenecks


At the French operations of Flow Control Technologies, a division of Princeton, N. J.-based U.S. industrial conglomerate Tyco, an innovative implementation of a finite scheduling solution from Preactor International helped overcome an unusual bottleneck: the operations' engineering department.

A manufacturer of industrial valves and fitting for the gas & petroleum industries, Flow Control Technologies undertakes extensive premanufacture engineering work to prepare drawings for every order it receives, explains Sébastien Barrot, Black Belt Six Sigma manager in charge of continuous improvement and process excellence.

Demand planning and collaboration solutions support S&OP


Managing the juncture between an enterprise's business and operational plans often gets hampered by one basic factor, as Tom Dadmun sees it: human nature. More specifically, the culprit is the natural tendency of professionals to stick up for their point of view.

Dadmun is VP of supply chain operations at ADTRAN, a Huntsville, Ala.-based manufacturer of network access devices. He helped institute a sales & operations planning (S&OP) process at ADTRAN.
