Agresso has said that the ERP suite will be a key tool helping King County Housing Authority (KCHA) respond to regulatory change and find solutions to improve options for low-income households. KCHA's evaluation process included solutions from Microsoft, JD Edwards and SunGard; Agresso was awarded the business based on its ability to manage ongoing change. Dassault Systemes (DS) said that after completion of the transaction and integration of the two companies' Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) operations, its PLM customers will benefit from engagement and support processes for its PLM product portfolio. The enhanced services agreement is expected to bring significant potential with extended IBM resources and expertise to help transform client PLM environments, using the DS V6 portfolio. Both companies are dedicated to strengthening and extending their cooperation in the areas of professional services, cloud computing, middleware, flexible financing, hardware, and sales and distribution, DS said. According to the company, the new facility is its fourth overseas R&D center. The new 200,000sqft facility is set up with an investment of $25 million and is expected to further accelerate local content development. The new facility is expected to serve as an important platform for the development of sub-compact cars in order to meet increasing demand. It will further facilitate the development of India as Hyundai's global hub for manufacturing and engineering of small cars. The new R&D center will reportedly support all back-end operations like computer aided engineering, computer aided design and help the R&D work taking place across Hyundai's car lineup. In addition, it will provide vehicle development including styling, engineering design and vehicle test and evaluation for cars manufactured in India. The center currently employs about 300 engineers and Hyundai plans to gradually increase this number, strengthening its operations.
Sony reported a smaller-than-expected 26.3 billion yen ($289 million) quarterly loss as cost cuts combined with healthy sales of PlayStation 3 game consoles and Michael Jackson hits helped it inch toward recovery. The Japanese electronics and entertainment giant has been battered by the global slowdown, sliding prices of gadgets and its failure to produce new blockbuster consumer products. But Tokyo-based Sony Corp. said Friday it now expects a smaller flow of red ink for the full fiscal year through March 2010. It's forecasting a 95 billion yen ($1 billion) loss compared with the initial projection for a 120 billion yen ($1.3 billion) loss. The new forecast is marginally better than the 98.9 billion yen loss it suffered the previous fiscal year.
