Lean as Superhero?
August 3, 2008

What people often think Lean is -- a superhero there to "save them" or to "make them Lean."

How people should really view Lean:

Superman might have been "faster than a speeding bullet," but Lean is no "silver bullet." Lean is an amazingly powerful methodology... but only if you're willing to work at it and provide quite a bit of leadership.

Can I at least claim superhero status for providing the leadership?

If you're providing true leadership, you ARE a superhero. Like I always say, "Lean doesn't succeed or fail.... people do, leaders do." We'd rather blame Lean than look in the mirror. Same goes for TQM, Six Sigma, etc. etc.
