The Dominican Republic's government plans to launch its digital cities program on July 14, telecoms regulator Indotel said in a press release.
The event, scheduled to take place at the presidential palace, was organized by Indotel together with Ibero American Association of Research Centers and Telecommunications Enterprises (Ahciet), and the presidential IT and communications office Optic.
Officials say the initiative will help "start the development of local e-government" in municipalities throughout the country.
"Each province will have its own electronic government - both on the municipal level and provincial level - coming from city hall," said Indotel.
