ADC KRONE (NASDAQ: ADCT; www.adckrone.com) announced today the addition of a shielded copper variant to the company's TrueNet Physical Layer Management (PLM) solution. This comprehensive solution is designed to enable network managers to identify and monitor the location and connectivity of every PC, printer, server, switch port, Ethernet device and copper or fibre circuit throughout a single or multi-site enterprise. This latest addition to the TrueNet PLM family can manage shielded and unshielded copper, as well asfibrechannels.

The new PLM solution uses an additional conductor in all copper andfibrepatch leads and patch panels, and features an additional contact per jack that is designed to not affect the transmission performance of the TrueNet connectivity components. This enables ADC KRONE to offer the TrueNet PLM with a full 20-year Zero-Bit-Error performance warranty. The solution also interfaces via SMNP into the switches within the network to aggregate all the necessary information into a real-time picture for the network manager. An optional CAD software module enables floor-plan display of relevant information.

ADC KRONE's TrueNet F/UTP and S/FTP shielded Gigabit and 10 Gigabit connectivity is combined with industry-leading software, giving network managers deep insight into the networks they control, including:

Auto-discovery, providing an accurate, up-to-the minute picture of exactly what is connected to each port or outlet.

Identification of unused and connected but unused' ports on patch panels and active equipment, enabling up to 40% better network equipment utilisation. According to Frost and Sullivan, up to 40% of ports are ghosted' or unutilised.

Real-time notification alarms to mobile phones, pagers or e-mail if a backbone, WAN circuit or even if an employee's PC is accidentally unplugged.

According to Sun Microsystems, the average network crashes an average of 70 times a year, with 59% of these crashes caused by problems in the physical layer. TrueNet PLM is designed to reduce the likelihood of these problems and significantly limit downtime and time-to-repair.

TrueNet PLM is also designed to protect against unauthorisedusage, illegal connections and device tampering. For example, the solution can immediately alert network management if anunauthorisedlaptop or PC is plugged in within a restricted area or if a server is disconnected. In addition, it can enforce and record security compliance to assist with financial compliance requirements such as Sarbanes Oxley.

Additionally, TrueNet PLM issues work instructions for moves, adds and changes (MACs). It uses LEDson its patch panels to show technicians or non-technical personnel exactly which patch cord to unplug and where to insert a new one. The solution is ideal for branch-office sites because non-technical personnel can be instructed to remove or insert a patch-cord as guided by the LED indicators.
