High-tech logistics: Menlo Amsterdam facility serves up pan-European transportation management

Menlo Worldwide, a global provider of logistics, transportation management, and supply chain services and a subsidiary of Con-way, opened a new 6,500-square-meter facility at the AMB Douglassingel Distribution Center in the Amsterdam area.
The center becomes the
company's new European headquarters, and is Menlo's fourth-largest of eight
distribution and logistics centers in Europe serving customers in the high-tech
industry as well as other markets.
'As the center of an extensive network connecting the rest of Europe, Amsterdam is a crucial market for Menlo and our customers,' says Gert Askes, managing director of European operations, Menlo Worldwide. 'The proximity of this new facility to the airport and customs is ideal and allows us very fast turnaround times. It positions us for growth as the market continues to seek capacity and expanded services for logistics and distribution management throughout the pan-European market.'
Primary services provided at the new Menlo facility include:
• Bonded warehousing, inventory control, and supply chain flow management;
• Receiving, storage, pick and pack, shipping, customer service;
• Product staging, fulfillment and transportation management; and
• Just-in-time or emergency response delivery.
All of Menlo's European operations offer a comprehensive portfolio of logistics services for customers in high-tech/consumer electronics, automotive, consumer goods and industrial markets
