Yard Hound visibility suite just may be a DC's best friend

PINC Solutions' Yard Hound Product Suite enables shippers to monitor trailers inside their customers’ yards via RFID, reducing wait time in unloading, allowing temperature monitoring of refrigerated units, and adding to the overall efficiency and performance of fleets.

PINC Solutions Director of Business Development Farshid Arman says the vendor's Web-enabled locating system, called Yard Hound, offers 24/7 online yard-management reports.

Using the Carrier View Option, third-party logistics (3PL) providers can make dock appointments, set alerts on trailer status, and gain greater visibility of their assets at customer sites.

“It’s a win-win for both parties: the distribution centers (DC) and the 3PLs,” says Farshid Arman, PINC director of business development. “Using Yard Hound, the DCs get visibility to where things are, and the 3PLs get the benefit of improved performance. The Web-enabled application allows everyone to view the information on their equipment without [phone or fax communication].”
