Solutions draw from enterprise, plant-operations systems

By Staff -- Manufacturing Business Technology, 3/1/2007

Automation vendor Invensys announces packaged composite applications (PCAs) for real-time finance and real-time production execution. The apps, certified by enterprise vendor SAP, orchestrate functionalities from existing application assets in the context of an enterprise service-oriented architecture. Says Peter Martin, Invensys VP of strategic ventures, “The PCAs are the result of a joint development effort,” adding that the intent is, “to have a single application bridging traditionally separate domains.” The PCAs are enabled by standards-based interoperability between business processes managed by SAP business applications, and plant processes managed within Invensys InFusion enterprise control system or the Wonderware System Platform. Enabling technologies include SAP NetWeaver, SAP xMII, and the aforementioned ArchestrA.
