Sun retools back-up and recovery process

BakBone Software is giving Sun Microsystems users more choices in back-up, restore, and disaster-recovery solutions with delivery and support of BakBone's NetVault Backup product suite.

According to BakBone CEO Jim Johnson, the agreement reflects several years of technical collaboration and business development.

"BakBone's strategy is to redefine data protection as a simple and straightforward process—even in the most complex environments. We will make it easier for users to protect existing Sun storage investments and simplify data protection."

BakBone is a member in Sun's StorageTek Ready platform, participating in the Sun SMP Advantage Program for ISVs. BakBone and Sun share a customer base that includes 550 of the Fortune 1000.
