ABB executive appointed to U.S.-International Business Councils
In June, Dinesh Paliwal, president of ABB USA, the Swiss-based multi-national's U.S. division, was named to the board of directors of both the U.S.-China Business Council and the U.S.-India Business Council. Paliwal, an Indian citizen, has lived and worked in both countries throughout his long, globe-hopping career with ABB.
Both business councils date from the 1970s and focus on fostering productive business relationships between U.S. companies and the Chinese and Indian governments—facilitating favorable bilateral trade policies and business opportunities. Today, both China and India are among the fastest growing economies in the world.
"Only two years ago, the 16th Party Congress approved the plan to quadruple the national economy by the year 2020," said Paliwal. "China is witnessing world-class, world-scale global projects, as its economy continues to grow as a result of this plan."
With regards to India, Paliwal stated that India's growth rate makes it "an attractive market for U.S. corporations. India has a highly skilled and technically qualified resource base—which is a vital asset, especially when it comes to complex integration projects and R&D activities."
Paliwal has been with ABB for over 18 years. In addition to heading up ABB's U.S. operations, he is also a member of ABB's Group executive Committee, and Chairman of ABB Ltd., India.
ABB is a leader in power and automation technologies, employing 110,000, with operations in 100 countries, including 17 manufacturing facilities in China.
