IBM creating supply chain research labs
IBM says it saved $5.6 billion in 2002 by revamping its supply chain practices. Now it is setting up research laboratories at several universities in hopes of discovering ways for companies to constantly restructure supply chains in response to changing market conditions. The first lab was established last fall at the business school at Michigan State University. Other schools that are expected to host labs include Penn State, Arizona State, and University College in Dublin.
