Panjiva launches application store for global trade

Panjiva asks organizations, such as organizations such as certification organizations, government agencies, and credit bureaus to submit information via onPanjiva so businesses can gather information with Panjiva Search, a search engine for global trade.

About Panjiva
Panjiva says it is an online resource for sourcing executives to gain valuable knowledge about suppliers around the world. By providing the most comprehensive data in an easy to use format, Panjiva informs the decisions that facilitate doing business globally.

Supply chain and global production executives responsible for finding the right factories, negotiating costs and avoiding costly supply chain disruptions have been "flying blind." Panjiva says it is the first and only online information source designed to provide total transparency into overseas suppliers. Leveraging a variety of public and proprietary data sources, Panjiva is bringing new levels of visibility to the management of global supply chains.

Panjiva was founded by CEO Josh Green and CTO James Psota. Panjiva received an equity investment from Battery Ventures and a contingent of angel investors.

onPanjiva information program

With the launch of onPanjiva, Panjiva asks organizations, such as organizations such as certification organizations, government agencies, and credit bureaus, to submit information so businesses can gather information with Panjiva Search, a search engine for global trade. The company made the announcement on July 20.

onPanjiva is part of the company's broader strategy to continually build and diversify its data sources as a means of providing clients with the robust and accurate information they need to make strategic supply chain decisions.

In recent months, Panjiva announced that information from several affiliates would be available on Panjiva Search, including certification information from SAI and WRAP, global trade "red flag" information from deKieffer & Horgan and credit information from Sinosure. The onPanjiva program is emblematic of Panjiva's belief that connecting companies with information is the key to transforming global trade.

"Just as the App Store connects iPhone users with applications they want, onPanjiva connects global businesses with relevant information they need -- to engage in global trade and mitigate supply chain risk," noted Panjiva co-founder and CTO James Psota.

Panjiva says between now and Aug. 31, 2009, global businesses can nominate information providers they would like to see onPanjiva. The first company to nominate an information provider that ultimately publishes its information onPanjiva will receive one-year's worth of free access to information from this provider, Panjiva says. Information providers can also nominate themselves for inclusion onPanjiva.

According to Panjiva co-founder and CEO Josh Green, "With the onPanjiva program, information providers can profit by getting their information into the hands of global businesses that use Panjiva to research and monitor suppliers. Simultaneously, as Panjiva integrates data from more information providers, global businesses will benefit by gaining easy access to more of the information they need."
