Oracle helping customers make a business case for attending its user conference

Pre-packaged letters summarize ROI from going to Oracle OpenWorld

Sidney Hill -- Manufacturing Business Technology, 7/9/2009 1:17:06 PM

In what seems like an obvious response to the ongoing economic downturn, enterprise software supplier Oracle is offering to help its customers make a business case for attending Oracle's user conference.

Oracle OpenWorld, the annual gathering for Oracle customers, is scheduled for October 11 - 15 in San Francisco.

Oracle sent an email invitation to the event this aimed at manufacturing companies. The subject line in the email says, "Hear from Industrial Manufacturing and Technology Thought Leaders."

Inside the email is a link that says "Provide a Strong ROI Case to Your Manager." Clicking the link sends readers to a page where readers can download one of three letters that Oracle has prepared stating a case for attending OpenWorld.

The letters are designed for use by people with different roles within organizations:

• Application users;

• Application developers; and

• Application managers.

Readers are instructed to download the appropriate letter and customize it to fit their individual circumstances.

The opening two paragraphs of the manager's say the following:

"Oracle OpenWorld 2009 is the one conference our company should attend this year. In fact the conference value is worth many times the registration fee.

In these challenging times, we have to stretch our existing assets-including leveraging and supporting our current IT infrastructure-to realize the true potential of our information."
