Oracle has an agreement in play to acquire Captovation, a vendor of document-capture solutions that streamline the process of accessing and gathering content within business applications and processes. The buy will strengthen Oracle's enterprise content management (ECM) software portfolio to comprise an integrated solution for overall transactional content management.
Such a solution is expected to help manufacturers simplify back-office operations and streamline regulatory compliance.
The deal is expected to close by February 2008.
Oracle ECM is a component of Oracle Fusion Middleware, a standards-compliant foundation for service-oriented architecture.
According to Thomas Kurian, senior VP, Oracle Server Technologies, "By adding document capture to Oracle's content management, process automation, and back-office applications, Oracle will be the only vendor that can provide customers with a fully integrated solution for automating back-office operations."
