IBM's 2004 release of Tivoli Security Compliance Manager is at the center of an alliance of business partners looking to automate tasks associated with managing, retaining, and securing business information—ranging from documents to e-mail and instant messages—to meet varied compliance mandates.
"Customers are demanding comprehensive solutions that make use of existing infrastructures to address multiple compliance issues," says Brett MacIntyre, IBM VP, enterprise content management.
IBM Tivoli Security Compliance Manager automates security policy compliance audits to identify security vulnerabilities and policy violations. The new software works in conjunction with other IBM products—among them, IBM Lotus Workplace for Business Controls and Reporting. This integrated set of products and services manages internal controls and data requirements for government compliance, such as Section 404 of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act, which calls for documenting, testing, and certifying internal financial reporting checks and balances.
IBM counts more than 20 partnerships already in place. Products and services include e-learning; content to support compliance programs; services and content to meet OSHA requirements; EPA and DOT content and services support; business information analysis tools; agnostic message capture tools; solutions to enforce compliance workflows; financial risk and compliance analysis; data transformation; and data integration.
