Up and running

Staff -- Manufacturing Business Technology, 12/1/2003 12:00:00 AM

Apriso has installed its FlexNet suite to automate manufacturing operations at Pechiney's Rugles, France-based rolling mill, which makes aluminum strip and foil for packaging applications. The software differs from ERP by coordinating in real time the tens or hundreds of thousands of "events" that occur in a production facility nearly continuously, while directing process steps and monitoring machinery and worker performance. FlexNet also is being used at International Paper's Texarkana, Texas site, where warehousing and inventory management applications were interfaced with an RFID inventory location app to generate real-time workflow instructions.

Fenner Dunlop Europe will use Glovia International's extended ERP solution to streamline its operations for making and supplying conveyer belting. The solution supports mixed-mode manufacturing (engineer-to-order through high-volume/repetitive), and also offers project/contract-based manufacturing and service management capabilities.

WorkWise says more than 100 companies have upgraded to a newer release of its TCM (Time Critical Manufacturing) enterprise system. TCM V7.0 has more than 50 functional enhancements, including e-commerce functionality and an advanced ODBC interface. Says John Schmitt, treasurer, H. G. Weber & Co., "Our upgrade went smoothly. We are now enjoying superior uptime provided by our Windows 2000 and OpenVMS mixed-mode TCM environment."

Enterprise asset management (EAM) vendor Indus International reports Basin Electric, a power cooperative in Bismarck, N.D., will use Indus' CBM Connector to integrate the company's EAM system with various condition monitoring (CM) and operational data historian solutions. The contract marks the first delivery of EAM/CM integration compliant with OpenO&M Information Standards.

RiverOne has deployed its INTERACTIVE Automated Procurement suite at Flextronics to power FLEX PASS, the manufacturer's procurement automation and supplier enablement program. The solution allows connecting to and collaborating with all of Flextronics' suppliers online, regardless of IT infrastructure. Flextronics initially went live with RiverOne at its Guadalajara, Mexico, facility, which included integration with the Baan ERP system. The procurement solution now is being rolled out in Doumen, China.

New Generation Computing (NGC) reports Gold Toe Brands will use e-SPS, NGC's Web-based sourcing and production system, to manage apparel production. e-SPS will give Gold Toe's sourcing department and vendors in Korea and China access to production data, and the ability to complete steps in the production process via the 'Net.
