Consolidation seen in HCM markets

By Staff -- Manufacturing Business Technology, 8/1/2006 12:00:00 AM

Within a span of five days, human capital management (HCM) solutions supplier Kronos issued two merger announcements.

The first deal involves talent-management vendor Unicru, acquired for nearly $150 million in cash. Unicru solutions integrate hiring management, selection science, and workforce analytics in a continuous-improvement model.

Kronos will leverage Unicru's expertise in selecting and hiring personnel, coupled with Kronos' workforce-management suite. The end result will be solutions that integrate an employee-selection strategy with actual labor performance, and tie labor planning to sourcing and hiring.

The second deal involves acquisition of workforce-management vendor SmartTime. which will extend Kronos' footprint in manufacturing. SmartTime targets companies with complex labor environments, and has product lines that are complementary to the solutions found in Kronos' Workforce Central suite.
