Microsoft partner says "Axapta's just right" for verticals customization

When Microsoft Business Solutions (MBS) announced it would rely on independent software vendors (ISVs) and value-added resellers (VARs) for vertical solutions, Junction Solutionsis what it had in mind. The Microsoft gold-certified business partner has expertise in both MBS's Axapta ERP system, and the food & beverage and multichannel retail verticals.
Junction Solutions offers packages with industry-specific features integrated with Axapta, the MBS brand targeted at midmarket multinationals with revenues in the $500-million to $1-billion range.
Axapta is ideal for this kind of customization, maintains Brian Carpizo, president and CEO of Junction Solutions. "It's built to be modified, and there are no such things as best practices that will fit every industry," he says.
The Gold Partner program is one way Microsoft is addressing concerns about its dependence on ISVs and VARs for support in vertical markets. The program certifies that ISV solutions are built to Microsoft .NET standards; that the companies have a successful record of developing and marketing packaged software based on Microsoft technologies; and have demonstrated competency in Microsoft technologies and in ERP.
"Customers look for partner companies that can bridge the gap between their business demands and technology capabilities," says Allison Watson, a Microsoft VP. "They need to trust in someone who can act as an expert adviser."
In a little less than three years, Junction Solutions has gained some large customers. In particular, food manufacturer/grocer H-E-B, Kerrville, Texas, has more than 300 stores in Texas and northern Mexico. H-E-B will consolidate legacy systems at 11 plants into one integrated, multilocation, multilingual ERP solution—Junction's Axapta for Food & Beverage. Martial arts supplier Century, Midwest City, Okla.; and Mooney Airplane, Kerrville, Texas, are using Junction's Axapta for Direct-to-Consumer.
