QAD launches Automotive Edition enterprise apps; AIAG partnership for materials management training

By Manufacturing Business Technology Staff -- Manufacturing Business Technology, 8/23/2007 9:46:00 AM

QAD Enterprise Applications 2007 (QAD 2007) Automotive Edition gives automotive suppliers the benefits of the QAD 2007 solution in an on-demand environment, including electronic data interchange (EDI) capabilities and completely managed service.
With the on-demand edition, automotive suppliers will be free of the infrastructure and overhead for applications management personnel. Additionally, QAD 2007 Automotive Edition as an on-demand application allows global multinationals to deploy the application in any emerging market around the world with low cost of entry. Automotive suppliers operate on a global basis. QAD is able to support this global industry by offering this solution in more than 90 countries and in 27 languages.
“QAD has demonstrated its ability to deliver applications on demand through our success with our Supply Visualization product. This solution is used by more than 2,000 global suppliers, and sets us apart from the competition,” says Charlie Eggerding, QAD VP, Automotive.
QAD also is offering Materials Management Operation Guideline Logistics Evaluation (MMOG/LE) training to auto suppliers in Russia, China, and India through partnership with Automotive Industry Action Group (AIAG).
Issued by AIAG in North America and Odette International Limited in Europe, the MMOG/LE guidelines are a global set of principals for materials processes, incorporating AIAG's Materials Management Operations Guidelines (MMOG) and Odette Logistics Evaluation (OLE) documents. The MMOG/LE guidelines automatically score and rate suppliers’ compliance levels and identifies necessary actions to satisfy requirements.
“The real challenge in making global sourcing work is developing a world-class materials management plan and logistics management system. The MMOG/LE guidelines and complementary training are effective tools to help suppliers get there faster,” says J. Scot Sharland, executive director, AIAG. “We chose QAD as a partner for this training because of their longstanding commitment and support of AIAG’s efforts to reduce cost and complexity via global standards development and harmonized business practices; especially in emerging markets.”
The MMOG/LE training provides a series of exercises and electronic resources that enable trainees to assemble a team and acquire the tools necessary to effectively implement the Global MMOG/LE standards when they return to their facility. Coursework covers:
· The requirements for completing an MMOG/LE self-assessment
· A gap analysis identifying action items
· Communication strategies for the MMOG/LE throughout an organization
· MMOG/LE implementation planning guidance
· Ideas about motivating change and dealing with resistance
MMOG/LE training is offered world-wide; on-site training is available. Classes in the United States are regularly held at AIAG’s offices in Southfield, Mich.. Schedule and class information can be viewed at http://www.aiag.org/staticcontent/education/trainingindex.cfm?classcode=MMOG .   Dates and registration information for classes in Asia and other emerging markets are available by at http://www.aiag.org/staticcontent/education/06MMOGTraining.pdf. Companies in Europe interested in obtaining training should work through their appropriate national organization in Odette.
