Application soothes frayed nerves of PLM vendors and users

It's a sign of the times that a new software solution is specifically aimed at supporting the sometimes-rocky relationship between product life-cycle management (PLM) vendors and those they hold most dear: their customers.
Orions42, Tempe, Ariz., says the main cause of frayed nerves and gnashing teeth in a PLM implementation is the vendor struggles to obtain a complete view of customer requirements, and then to hand off those requirements from sales to services once a contract is signed. Failure to do these things leads to rework and disgruntled users who resent having to chew their cabbage any number of times. Jeff Phillip, CEO of Orions42, says its StepAlpha product lets companies "define, manage, and socialize," leading to a full process definition. Most important, "It puts the client in control of the implementation."
