Del Monte ramps up spend management program

Del Monte Foods is expanding its use of Ariba Spend Management solutions as part of aggressive efforts to mitigate the effects of rising costs for raw products, commodities, and energy.
Del Monte recently broadened its portfolio of Ariba solutions to include Ariba Contract Management and Ariba Procure-to-Pay, which it will leverage to drive efficiency across the entire procurement process and ensure that savings negotiated reach the bottom line.
"Our input cost structure continues to increase at an accelerated rate. We must take decisive action to control and manage spend in areas where we can,” says James Stokes, senior manager of strategic & global sourcing for Del Monte Foods. “We’ve been using Ariba’s sourcing and visibility solutions to identify opportunities for savings and negotiate competitive contracts for several years. In adding procure-to-pay and contract management tools, we can drive additional savings and efficiencies to offset the impact of price increases and improve our operations and results.”
