RFID Tribe launches professionals registry

By Manufacturing Business Technology Staff -- Manufacturing Business Technology, 8/7/2007 7:28:00 AM

The RFID Tribe association Web site offers a rapidly growing and interactive forum.

RFID Tribe—an association that grew from an initial grassroots gathering of 20 professionals in Dallas in 2004, now has 2,800 members in 65 countries. It also has a new registry of members on its Web site that serves as the means to post professional profiles and project descriptions, locate resources, and get questions answered. An interactive map powered by Google Maps helps with the navigation.

“The interactive map is open to the public,” says Mark Johnson, president of RFID Tribe. “You can scroll through a menu of 300 organizations and click and sort by vendors, users, associations and universities—or by key words, like ‘manufacturing.’ You can click on a map balloon and get a specific profile.”

Individuals can join for free, while companies pay a membership fee. “We also have forums for different applications," says Johnson. "Only people who are members can make a posting, but anyone can view them. RFID Tribe provides a means for people to collaborate, and a forum and the tools to do it.”
