Outsourcing isn't just for Fortune 1000

By Staff -- Manufacturing Business Technology, 9/1/2004 6:00:00 AM

"Our experience shows that outsourcing can help drive the growth strategy of mid-market manufacturers, and for every Fortune 1000 company there are 229 mid-sized ones, generating a total of $6 trillion per year," says Joe Costello, chairman and CEO, think3, a provider of design and development solutions. "Strategic outsourcing allows in-house engineers to focus on new design creation and to work more flexibly and profitably. More routine design and engineering work can be outsourced to allow engineers to focus on high value-add activities, including new product design and development. Strategic outsourcing also substantially improves recruitment, retention, and motivation of in-house engineering talent by eliminating less challenging activities such as projects involving reuse of existing designs."
