Click to send: SOA platform partnership simplifies service-, message-, and file-oriented interactions

By Manufacturing Business Technology Staff -- Manufacturing Business Technology, 3/30/2009 11:02:00 AM

Service-oriented architecture (SOA) specialist Software AG says an OEM partnership with Proginet—a provider of a cross-platform file transfer solution called CyberFusion Integration Suite (CFI)—will extend Software AG’s SOA-enabled webMethods ActiveTransfer solution.

“Companies struggle with how to move large files within the organization, and this challenge is compounded when trying to share information with external business partners outside the firewall,” says Dr. Peter Kürpick, chief product officer for Software AG. “Traditional file transfer methods such as FTP tend to be unreliable, non-secure, and lacking in the required automation functionalities; and email is not a viable option for large files.

“webMethods ActiveTransfer gives businesses a solution that is optimized to guarantee secure delivery of files inside and outside an organization,” Dr. Kürpick continues.”Its zero-footprint deployment makes it an ideal solution for integrating with trading partners.”

webMethods ActiveTransfer supports a variety of communication protocols, and enables transmission of important business documents with trusted recipients across geographically dispersed networks. Additionally, its Checkpoint Restart functionality leads to guaranteed delivery while resuming the transfer of any file from the point of failure, rather than from the beginning of the transfer.

According to Proginet CEO Sandy Weil, “By bringing our managed file transfer technology into the webMethods Suite, Software AG is able to deliver an integration solution that is uniquely powerful. We see tremendous synergies between our companies and we will continue to innovate, as we move forward, to better serve the marketplace.”
